The test consists of 50 multiple choice, fill-in and short essay type questions
The test is NOT timed
Students MUST pass with a 75% score or better
Clinical Practical Exam, which will be Instructor evaluated:
Will be held during sixth week of Course 202
Students are required to have 3 Patients. The first patient is your mock board patient. The remaining 2 patients are your stateboard patients.
Students are graded on four areas of criteria: (1) disclosing application; (2) plaque remains; (3) extrinisc stains remain; (4) tissue conditon. Score range form a 10, 7.5, 5, and 3. Scores that fall below 7.5 are considered a fail and, and another patient is required.
Each student will be teamed with another student (this your partner the entire course)
You will have 1 hour to complete each patient. 45 minutes to polish and 15 minutes to clean and turn over operatory.
Criteria to pass practical portion (It is mandatory that all students are present to sucessfully pass course)
Patients need to have signed calculus free statement signed by their Dentist or Hygienist
All plaque and extrinsic stains removed
Use proper technique
No injury or trauma to soft tissue
Follow Infection Control quidelines
Student is on time and in uniform
Helpful Hints
Plan ahead- have friends and relative get a dental check-up and cleaning right away. Don't wait until the last minute
Bring patients in for practice during classtime for stateboard evaluation
